Background.

Boston’s Central Artery/Tunnel Project, better known as “The Big Dig”, was developed to alleviate traffic congestion on Boston’s historically tangled streets, which were laid out long before the advent of the automobile. It has been called the most technologically challenging highway project ever attempted in American history.

Problem.

This complex construction project had unique dust and erosion compliance challenges because of the size of the effort and the thousands of people, homes and businesses in the large construction area.

Solution.

Midwest’s Soil-Sement® was adopted by the State of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to help with both the environmental and economic aspects of dust control. EPA-verified safe for people and the environment, EnvironKleen is cost-effective for controlling PM10 and PM2.5 from open fugitive dust sources. Unlike other available products it will not track onto public roadways or stick to vehicles.
