Background.
A United States Air Force base located in a desert region was subject to large dust clouds resulting from the silty soil on the base.
Problem.
Poor visibility during takeoff and landing was a serious safety issue for pilots. Further, the friction caused by small particulates that penetrated moving engine parts, triggered mechanical stress and maintenance problems.
Solution.
Midwest’s Soil-Sement provided a cost-effective, safe, and efficient way to increase California Bearing Ratio values and stabilize the infield, thereby preventing dust and debris from becoming airborne during jet blast. A dust-free infield reduced PM10 emissions, improved visibility, decreased maintenance issues and boosted safety.
